Nevertheless, bolstered by the words of the old king and the lessons of the alchemist, he keeps to his chosen path. The treasure might turn out be his after all. Along the way, he falls in love with a girl named Fatima. Their love story plays a significant role in the plot.
The novel allegorically teaches each reader that wisdom lies in listening to one’s heart and learning to interpret life’s omens as guiding signs.
